 Dr. Detke is a psychiatrist with more than 20 years of research experience and extensive clinical and drug development expertise. Before joining MedAvante, he served as Executive Director for Neuroscience Medical Research at Lilly Research Laboratories in Indianapolis. In that position, he oversaw all CNS assets in early phase development, including all psychiatric, neurologic, and pain indications. Previously at Lilly, Dr. Detke was Senior Medical Director responsible for Phase III development for Cymbalta (duloxetine HCl) and Phase IV for Prozac (fluoxetine). This included registration and regulatory commitment trials for Cymbalta indications, including major depressive disorder, diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain, generalized anxiety disorder, fibromyalgia and chronic pain, as well as pediatric trials.
Dr. Detke also teaches and supervises medical students and residents in patient care as Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine. He is a current research affiliate at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Detke graduated summa cum laude with a BA and MS in Psychology at Yale University, and later received his MA, MD, and PhD degrees at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was awarded NIH and NIMH fellowships. His training in medicine and psychiatry were conducted at Harvard Medical School, at the Mt. Auburn, McLean, and Massachusetts General Hospitals, and he completed a fellowship in psychopharmacology at Harvard Medical School and McLean Hospital.
Dr. Detke has published more than 50 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals since 1989. He serves as a reviewer for numerous such journals, and is a member of selective scientific organizations such as the ACNP and SOBP.

 Mr. Downing has more than 20 years of experience in finance and business, including more than four years in his current position. Before joining MedAvante, Steve served as Executive Director of Finance for the Client Support Center of Excellence for Covance. In that position, he led the planning and implementation of the finance reorganization process. Steve’s areas of support included: P&L responsibility, strategy, capital investment, expansion, and financial training. In addition, he led the creation of a Project Analysis Group that was responsible for the overall financial health of projects, including profitability, revenue recognition, cash flow, invoicing, and financial training for Project Managers and their teams.
Previous roles at Covance included Global Controller for the Clinical Development Services Business and Senior Financial Analyst for the Corporate office. Before joining Covance, Steve worked as a Senior Consolidations Analyst with IMO Industries and as an auditor with KPMG Peat Marwick LLP.
He has a BS Degree in Accounting and Finance from Trenton State College, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

 Mr. ElFar has more than 15 years of Information Technology experience with a focus on infrastructure architecture and development management. Before joining MedAvante, Amir was the VP of Network Services at IDT, a Fortune 1000 multinational communications company headquartered in Newark, NJ. At IDT, Amir managed a staff of more than 85 professionals, overseeing all aspects of IP voice/data, systems and storage engineering, databases, information security, desktop support, and 24/7 global network operations. He provided oversight for several large-scale global projects, and was responsible for all aspects of IT strategic planning for more than 100 locations across North America, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Latin America.
Amir holds a BS in Computer Science from New Jersey City University and an EMBA from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

 Amy Ellis, currently Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer, is one of three founders* of MedAvante and served as Chief Operating Officer until 2009.
Amy Ellis has twenty-seven years experience managing and developing national businesses spanning the consumer, healthcare, household and agricultural categories. She has managed established consumer brands such as Old Spice, Pine-Sol, Breck, as well as developed new over the counter drug products, for Ciba Consumer Pharmaceuticals and the Shulton Division of American Cyanamid.
Ms. Ellis was most recently the Director of Marketing, New Products at Church & Dwight successfully launching two national brands: Arm & Hammer Deodorants and Dental Care Gum. The Arm & Hammer Dental Care Gum brand established the oral care gum category in the United States and won the American Marketing Association’s Edison Award as the 1998 Best New Product of the Year. Mr. Gilbert has more than 23 years of general management and marketing experience, including at best-practice organizations: Johnson & Johnson, Arm & Hammer, Booz Allen, and Gillette. He has successfully scaled up companies in both consumer and business markets with emphasis on developing new categories and products.
Paul as one of three co-founders of MedAvante* in 2002 has been responsible for placing exceptional talent, capital, and resources behind a powerful methodological innovation to address the high rate of failed CNS trials. He ensures that MedAvante's culture, organizational design, business model, and strategy reinforce service excellence. He led MedAvante's acquisition of $34 million in growth capital including most recently $20 million from Goldman Sachs and Trevi Health and the prior $14 million from 82 organizational leaders from pharma (retired), Wall Street, and innovative growth company CEOs who provide expertise and insights.
Prior to MedAvante, Mr. Gilbert was Vice President of Marketing and Strategy for Princeton eCom, which was awarded New Jersey Technology Council’s 2001 Technology Company of the Year, overseeing the development and execution of all marketing and strategy initiatives. He developed the organization's first integrated multi-channel marketing plan, developed opportunity-identification programs for the sales force, designed consumer adoption initiatives, and repositioned the product lines.

 Ms. Howarth has more than 15 years of experience in human resource management, as the leader of staffing initiatives for biotechnology and medical device companies as well as contract research organizations.
Prior to joining MedAvante, she supported large, global operations teams at Covance. Ms. Howarth served as the lead HR representative during that company’s expansion into Latin America.
Ms. Howarth holds a BA in Psychology from The College of New Jersey in Trenton, NJ. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

 Mr. Schmidt has more than 20 years’ experience in clinical drug development, including the last six years at MedAvante. He has deep domain experience in Contract Research, having spent more than 14 years managing clinical trials. During his 8 years at Covance, one of the nation's largest CROs, he held management positions within Clinical Operations, Trial Logistics, and Resourcing. His experience provides both the strategic and operational skills to collaborate on the development and management of MedAvante's unique Centralized Expert Ratings Service.
Mr. Schmidt has a BA in Biology from the University of Scranton.

 Dr. Sorantin has more than 15 years of experience in the biopharma and chemical industries. Before joining MedAvante, Dr. Sorantin worked in business development at SciQuest, where he established the key account program with international pharma companies and led the company’s expansion into the European market.
Prior to SciQuest, Dr. Sorantin worked in business development at Molecular Simulations/Accelrys, where he had the leading role in the company’s expansion into formulation-related applications in pharmaceutical development and consumer care. He began his career at Siemens, leading the initiative for delivering new high-performance computational methods in predictive modeling to pharmaceutical companies and research institutions.
Dr. Sorantin holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the Vienna University of Technology in Austria, and has written a variety of scientific publications.

Dr. Williams has over 30 years of clinical research experience in both industry and academia. Before coming to MedAvante in 2007, she worked for 32 years in academic settings, including as Professor of Clinical Psychiatric Social Work in the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and as Research Scientist and Deputy Chief of the Biometrics Research Department at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. She is now Professor Emerita at Columbia University. Dr. Williams is well-known for her work on the development of psychiatric classifications and instruments to measure psychopathology. Her contributions include:
• Interview guides for the Hamilton Rating Scales and the Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale
• A leading role in the development of the Third edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-III), as well as subsequent revisions
• Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV (SCID), a standard for diagnostic evaluations (as co-author)
• PRIME-MD and its self-reported version of the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ), to help primary care physicians
make mental disorder diagnoses (as co-author) Dr. Williams has a BS in biology from Tufts University, an MS in marine biology from the University of Massachusetts–Dartmouth, and an MS and DSW in social welfare from the Columbia University School of Social Work. She is the author of many rating instruments and interview guides, and more than 240 scholarly publications. Dr. Williams serves on the editorial boards of several psychiatric and social work journals. She has received recognition and numerous awards for her achievements and contributions in social work and psychiatry.

 Ms. Wilmer joined MedAvante in 2002 and has developed provider networks, executed the company's first feasibility study using videoconferencing, and managed both the Rater Operations and Human Resources departments. Before joining MedAvante, Angela worked for more than 20 years in traditional and managed health care, most recently at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ. There, she successfully developed and managed health care policies and administrative procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and other standards for a network of over 10,000 providers. She has developed recruitment, contracting, and retention strategies for employees, physicians, and ancillary providers.
